An eclectic mix of all things remade, Akiko Yamasaki’s exhibition of beautiful objects is on display in the windows of the the Judith Wright Centre Shopfront, 420 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley. It’s open 24/7 until the closing party on Wednesday 7 July 6-9pm.

Pak Sheung Chuen @ the SLQ

Hong Kong’s contingent in the 2009 Venice Biennale, Pak Sheung Chuen, is in town and you can meet him at State Library of Queensland Auditorium 2 for his artist talk at 11am on Tuesday 29 June.

While in Brisbane for his residency, Pak will be developing new work for Light from Light, MAAP’s latest exhibition. Along with the ten other internationally acclaimed artists he will be contemplating ideas of light. Light from Light features outdoor photovoltaic structures, light-sculptures, neon art objects, images generated by solar telescopes, and illuminated texts, each duplicated for simultaneous display at the State Library of Queensland and the Shanghai Library in China later in the year.

Mark it in your diary…Friday 11 June will be big in Brisbane. Lasers, tapes and marmalade, all in one night of experiential extravaganza!

Robin Fox aka Lady Fox is back – think SNL’s Adam Samberg’s Laser Cats, only better and without the cats. See it to believe it from 7pm in the Spencer Street Laneway (off Margaret Street) along with Ross Manning’s new cassette deconstructions, not to be missed.

Looking for a winter warmer? Your spirits will be lifted, when an explosion of colour, texture and text is suspended sky-high between walls of office buildings in the heart of Brisbane city. Marmalade Skies, curated by Dhana Merritt and collectively conceived by local artists Matt Malone, Alice Lang, Zoe Hughes and Dhana Merritt in Gresham Lane, off Creek Street is on 24/7, 11-25 June.
